Limitation for Possible Values of Harmonic Parameters of Tides. Y. N. Zhukov – Navigation and Hydrography. – 2014. – No. 38.Ð. 36–43.

In the theory of the harmonic analysis of tides, there is no definition of any limitation for harmonic constants values for various points located within one water area. It is shown that such limitations do exist. They are revealed due to the existence of synchronization of the tidal variations for the water area space.

Key words:      tides, harmonic constants.

Algorithm of the Automated Construction of the Kronrod-Reeb Tree. Y. N. Zhukov – Navigation and Hydrography. – 2014. – No. 38.Ð. 44–50.

The traditional algorithms for constructing the Kronrod-Reeb tree for the relief are based on employment of the isohypses constructed for the differentiable relief surface. The algorithm for constructing the Kronrod-Reeb tree using the discrete description of the relief in the form of Morse-Smale cells is presented.

Preparation of Data for Constructing the Seamless Bottom Surface Using the Electronic Navigation Charts. L. D. Yastrebov, A. G. Karmanov – Navigation and Hydrography. – 2014. – No. 38.Ð. 50–56.

The practical necessity for the automatic construction of the isobaths is shown. The problems of using the sections of the surface as isobaths are considered. The suggested algorithm that enables to construct automatically the isobaths on the electronic navigation charts is described. This algorithm can also be used to construct the isobaths using the depth measurement data, taking the set variations in depth and other parameters into account.

Some Aspects of Sonar Search Technology for Bottom Objects. N. A. Nesterov – Navigation and Hydrography. – 2014. – No. 38.Ð. 57–65.

Some aspects of sonar search technology for bottom objects are considered. It is noted that modern sonar systems are effective means used for search and examination of bottom objects, both silted and located in the soil. The effectiveness of search operations is largely determined by the technology of using the equipment. An important role is also played by the detailed information about the characteristics of objects and physico-geographical conditions of the search area. The article is of a practical nature and can be used when solving the tasks of planning and carrying out the operations.

Key words:      side scan sonar, multibeam echosounder, tow fish, sonar survey, bottom profiler.

Evaluation of Climate Severity Degree of Northern Eurasia in Winter Period. S. I. Mastryukov, N. V. Chervyakova – Navigation and Hydrography. – 2014. – No. 38.Ð. 66–73.

New climatic indexes that can be used to evaluate the influence of cold on man are proposed. The first of them is the absolute minimum of wind chill equivalent temperature that is important for adequate selection of means of individual protection against the cold. The second is the time period with wind chill temperature below the set limits that is important for technical-economical substantiation of effectiveness of projects for the Far North development. The calculation of the equivalent temperature has been carried out using the new formula, the contour maps of the new indexes have been drawn using the data of the coastal meteorological observations in the northern part of Eurasia for 2007 – 2014.

Key words:      equivalent temperature, wind chill of man, safety of man, health, biometeorology, development of shelf of the Arctic seas.
